Why You Should Never Rinse Your Dishes Before Putting Them in the Dishwasher

An interesting reminder as I found myself rinsing dishes off before putting them in and I recall the dishwasher's manual saying not to rinse. From an environmental point of view the rinsing is a real waste of drinking water.

One mind-blogging statistic from Consumer Reports states that the average person wastes 6000 gallons of water a year by pre-rinsing. Most dishwasher machines use just 3 to 5 gallons of water per load, while the average person uses about 27 gallons when washing dishes by hand, according to The National Resource Defense Council.

Billions Of People Likely To Be Drinking Water Contaminated With Plastic Microfibers

"Right around the planet, billions of people are drinking water that is laced with tiny plastic microfibers. That is the worrying conclusion of a global analysis of drinking water, which found that 83 percent of tap water sampled contained traces of microplastic.

The implications for our own health are as yet unknown, although the investigation carried out by Orb Media has led to calls for urgent research into what impact they may be having on the scores of people from high- to low-income countries that are consuming the tiny bits of plastic..."

We have feared that since we arrived in Germany / Europe: the men here are becoming too feminine and we joked that there must be some hormone in the water. It seems there's really some truth behind it. Maybe people here don't notice because they are seeing the change gradually (like the frog in the boiling water) but who arrives here from abroad can definitely see something is not right. Be careful!

Not sure whether to drink tap water or not.

Not sure whether to drink tap water or not.. how to know the plumbing conditions of the house? Tap water in Germany is good at the source but there's no guarantee it will arrive good at your house.

I have recently started using the Hydro Coach app to stay on track of the water consumption. It sends reminders throughout the day so you can stay hydrated constantly. It turns out you should drink more than the previous thought 2 liters a day if you weight more than 63 kg.
