The Dutch Windwheel is not only a silent wind turbine - it's also an incredible circular apartment building | Inhabitat - Sustainable Design Innovation, Eco Architecture, Green Building

'How cool would it be to tell people you live inside of a wind turbine? Designed for the port city of Rotterdam, the Dutch Windwheel is a concept for a sustainable landmark that would be able to house 72 apartments within a circular steel and glass frame, while also serving as a silent, motionless wind turbine. In addition to harvesting energy from the wind, the structure would be equipped with facilities to capture rainwater, recycle tap water and also produce biogas from the residents' organic waste.'

The Dutch Windwheel

' ... The Dutch Windwheel has a great business case. Based on the current number of visitors to the Netherlands and Rotterdam it is expected that around 1.5 million people will visit the Dutch Windwheel per year. This ensures that the development will be profitable within 10 years. The extra visitors to the city (and the Netherlands) provide an additional boost to the economy and employment. The Netherlands will be more attractive for tourists and the city of Rotterdam and its surrounding area benefit from this. The expected growth in the number of tourists will generate an indirect economic added value of tens of millions per year. These figures are based on hospitality research by NBTC Holland Marketing in 2013. ... '

Minimalism: 180 Square Foot Loft

I found this gem today, it’s a 180 square foot loft apartment that is lived in by two New Yorkers.  The place features a ton of shelves for all their books, a nice looking bathroom, a decent sized kitchen and a small reading and meditation nook.  While there are some modern flairs to this space, the warm wood tones make it feel very cozy and homey.
