"For Chinese guests at Marriott International hotels, the check-in process will soon get easier. The hotel giant announced last summer that it's developing facial recognition systems that will allow guests to check in at a kiosk in less than a minute via a quick scan of their facial features.

Half a world away, fearful of what such technological advances will mean to their future job security, thousands of Marriott workers across the United States voted this fall to authorize their union to strike. In addition to calls for higher wages and better workplace safety, they pushed for procedures to protect them from the looming impact of technological advancement. "You are not going to stop technology. The question is whether workers will be partners in its deployment or bystanders that get run over by it," the union's president told The New York Times.
Indeed, what many are calling "the Fourth Industrial Revolution" is already here, disrupting jobs and labor markets, largely because of the rise and advance of artificial intelligence and robotics..."

It should be an obvious no-brainer to connect #artificialintelligence (AGI, super-AI, or perhaps narrow-AI alone) to the end of capitalism.

First there will be #BasicIncome (UBI, Citizens' Income) then everything will be free. More and more people are starting to connect basic income to AI.

Generally the commentators continue to cling to the idea of new jobs being created, in tandem with the existence of basic income, but I expect sometime between 2020 - 2025 they will start to recognise how employment does not need to be eternal because we can create sufficient intelligence for everyone to have everything they need for free (Post-Scarcity).

The Next Web wrote (30 Dec 2015): "Still, with self-driving vehicles looking likely to wipe out most professional drivers’ jobs in the next few decades, it makes sense to be prepared. That’s why AI experts suggest that a basic income might be worth further exploration."

The Next Web ended their article by stating: "Then there’s the timing of all these hypothetical events. While self-driving cars are gradually becoming a reality, AI experts are divided over how fast they expect technology to develop to a stage where the majority of our jobs are at risk – it could be a long time, as the technological problems behind artificial intelligence are really hard."

Scientific American wrote (15 Sept 2015): "On a more day-to-day scale, robots will likely take even more of our jobs. The first to go, of course, will be the ones that are the most repetitive or the most easily automated, such as store clerks, tax preparers and paralegals. (Some Japanese banks already employ robots to assist customers.)"

LET THE ROBOTS TAKE ALL THE JOBS! Have these journalists never heard of #basicincome and Post-Scarcity? The goal is, or should be, to abolish all jobs. We want a situation where nobody needs to work, but instead embracing no jobs, the so-called "smart" people are squealing about AI doom.
