Brett is a robot that fuses deep learning and reinforcement learning in a novel fashion. "Deep learning" means the system uses a convolutional neural network with many layers. The researchers claim the combination lets the robot "improve its approach to tasks through repeated attempts" -- in other words, to play, like children.
