Which camera: Sony Cybershot DSC HX400V or Sony Cybershot DSC HX60?
Which camera: Sony Cybershot DSC HX400V or Sony Cybershot DSC HX60?
The HX400V is slightly better (although same pixels and processor) but the HX60 is much more portable..
Not sure how better the HV400V is in practice, the main differences are:
-> Aperture: 2.8 vs. 3.5.
-> Focal length: f=4.3-215 mm vs. f=4.3-129 mm
-> Minimum focus: 1 cm - Infinity (W), 2.4 m - Infinity (T) vs. 5 cm - Infinity (W), 2 m - Infinity (T)
-> GPS vs no GPS
-> no 3D vs 3D
-> Optical Zoom: 50 vs. 30
-> ZEISS Vario Sonnar T* Lens vs. Sony G Lens.
-> viewfinder vs no viewfinder
-> Price difference 30 pounds.
Do the specs of the HX400V make it much superior to the HX60? Specially in picture quality? Or is it still better to have a more portable camera because the difference is almost imperceptible?

I ended up returning the HX400V and got my TX55 fixed. My good old TX55 seemed smarter than the HX400V afterall. The HX400V can have better quality if you are photographing landscape for example, but for day to day pictures the TX55 is more practical and could adjust itself automatically to the situations better than the HX400V. Besides one killer point was that the HX400V doesn't take pictures while recording a video (dual-rec), that was the main reason that made me return it at the end and wait for a future model that can dual rec. I felt I was loosing moments without being able to snap a picture while recording a video, don't know what Sony was thinking.. Plus the flash left a shadow in almost all of the night pictures with the HX400V because of the lens, could be better located or have a better angle, it was also usually too bright, could not adjust itself automatically, resulting in not so good pictures after all.
ReplyDeleteTried out the WX300 on Monday and it's horrible! What is happening with Sony? My TX55 has much better quality! I truly want to upgrade my CyberShot, but no luck with Sony anymore, guess I am going to try another brand for the first time ever.
