It's an attempt at a bigger perspective on what's happening with things like Deep Learning (and other forms of machine learning and artificial intelligence), as well as Google's Knowledge Graph and even its "Knowledge Vault ." In this piece, I try to explain how these new technologies fit together. I also try to show how these latest breakthroughs are still part of a long arch in human history, a continuation of our efforts to pull tacit knowledge from the biology of our minds and bodies and embed it as explicit knowledge into a new container.
