Not sure whether to drink tap water or not.. how to know the plumbing conditions of the house? Tap water in Germany is good at the source but there's no guarantee it will arrive good at your house.

    If you do not use the water which comes out first you're pretty safe.
    Even more important: only use the cold circle. There will likely be a warm water storage tank. If its anti corrosion anode isn't changed regularily you'll surely have more substances from that tank in your water than from the rest of the plumbing.
    If you ever have the chance to see such a tank after just 10 years you'll never use the warm water for tea or cooking again ;-)
